ISOLA GALLERY OPENING (June 7th 2013)
Isola Gallery openingAfter an accurate restoration the rooms located at #20 of Piazza S.Bartolomeo all'Isola will be at last accessible to the public.
The association Isola Gallery finally opens its location just in th rooms of the historical Rome New York Art Foundation, active between 1957 and 1964, and where some scenes of the Antonioni's movie "L'Avventura" have been shooted.
The opening party in June 7th 2013, which the picture refers to, has been attended by many personalities from the art, culture and political world.

MARGARET FULLER: Congress May 23rd 2010 (April 20th 2010)
May 23dr 2010 will be the bicentennial of the birth of Margaret Fuller, an exceptional woman whose activity is strictly joined to the Tiber island as, during the short and glorious Roman Republic il 1849, while her husband was fighting on the Vatican walls, Margaret assumed the direction of the ambulance at the Fatebenefratelli hospital.
In this occasion the USA Committee for the Bicentennial of Margaret Fuller Ossoli will organize a congress at the Sala Assunta of the Fatebenefratelli hospital at the Tiber island just on May 23rd. Also the place is particularly symbolic as the present Sala Assunta has been the first holpital ward where the wounded fighters were treated.
During this event Mario Bannoni, the Italian representative of the Committee, will explain some advance information from the book, near to be published, about the Italian years of Fuller and some recently discovered news relevant to her husband Giovanni Angelo Ossoli too.

This is the program:
Welcome and introduction:
- Mario Bannoni will introduce the welcome of the Co-Chair Mrs. Laurie James.
- Welcome of the USA Ambassador through a cultural delegate of the Embassy;
- Prof. Jaroslaw Mikolajewski, Director of the Polish Institute of Rome;
- Prof. Laszlo Csorba, past-Director of the Hungarian Academy in Rome;
- Doct. Anna Maria Cerioni, from Superintendence to the Cultural Heritages, will give the welcome of the Rome Town Council.
Speeches:
- Prof. Maria Cristina Giorcelli, Director of the Dept. of Euro-American Studies of the University Roma Tre, author of several publications relevant to M. Fuller;
- Prof. Marco Severini, of the University of Macerata, scholar and author of many books about the Roman Republica.
Coffee break
- Enrico Luciani, President of the Association A. Cipriani and director of the website www.comitatogianicolo.it will relate about the Rome Defense in 1849, showing also some interesting slides relevant to the places of fights;
- Prof. Antonio Santoro, General Medical Brigadier at the General Direction of the Military Department of Health and professor at the University of Florence will relate about the Military Sanitary Operations in 1848-49”;
- Prof Anna Maria Ginevra Conti Odorisio, teacher of History of Political Doctrines at the University of Roma 3 will relate about the Women in 1848";
- Prof. Fiorenza Taricone, collaborator of Prof. Conti Odorisio will relate about the Female Patriotism in the Risorgimento";

THE CINEMA ISLAND® (updated June 4th 2009)
From June 18th 2009 the XV edition of the exhibition L'isola del CinemaL'ISOLA DEL CINEMA® will take place, a classic appointment included in the "Estate Romana" events that will end on August 30th and is accommodated, as usual, in the Village built on the Tiber Island banks.
As every year the exhibition unfortunately will prevent roman people and tourists from havig free access to the island banks and the enjoyment of one of the most beautiful and characteristic places of Rome in the name of a remnant of cinema's culture that justifyes the transformation of the island into a mass of snack bars and stalls.
A dedicated lift, installed on the bank since the 2006 edition, will permit an easy access also to disabled people. Free entrance; movies on payment.

GO DOWN THE TIBER (DISCENDIAMO IL TEVERE®) (updated September 19th 2008)
The Commitee UISP Roma / Area Acquaviva, in collaboration with the asd Canoa Kayak Roma ASSEX, organizes on September 19th, 20th and 21st the exibition "discendiAMO il Tevere... un fiume di eventi" [go down the Tiber... a river of events] the includes the following events: 
a) Acquaviva Village 
Initiatives and promotional events for the
river and paddle sports: canoe, kayak, rafting, dragon boat and so on, that is the proposal of live-water sports as opportunity to recover and develope the water spaces.
The Village will be settled on the left bank of the Tiber at the side of the Tiber island, at Lungotevere de' Cenci.
b) Campionato Italiano di Società Canoa Slalom - 20 settembre 08
The Italian Federation Canoe and Kayak assigned to the asd Canoa Kayak Roma Assex the organization of the Italian Cluyb Campionship of Canoe Slalom, one of the most important international competitions.ale
The race route ( 18 door, 12 downhill and 6 uphill) is located in the Tiber just upstream and downstream the Fabricio bridge and is about 600 mt long.

LUNGO ER TEVERE... ROMA [Along the Tiber... Rome]  (June 14rd 2008)Lungo er
                      Tevere...
From June 14th to August 31st music, theatre and cabaret on the banks of the Lungotevere: the Cultural Association “La Vela d'Oro” organizes also this year the little exibition, free admission, with local craftsmanship stands, typical roman cuisine food, enological and gastronomic journeys through Calabry, Sicily and Sardinia , the western rodeo, country music, the European soccer championship, cabaret, shorts and many other proposals. And on the middle of August the Tiber twins with the Senna in Paris with fashion models and can-can.
Dedicated to Alberto Sordi, the exhibition accomodates a photographic show of the actor.
The event takes place on the platforms at the banks of Lungotevere Anguillara and de’ Cenci, Alberteschi, Ripa, Ripa Grande and Sanzio; the access is in front of the Tiber Island, at the Trastevere head of Ponte Cestio. The traditional layout has been increased this year adding a new promenade, about 500 mt., named "L'Altra Estate" [The other Summer], from Ponte Sisto (Trilussa sq.) to Ponte Mazzini.

CRUISES ON THE TIBER (July 9th 2007)
The service of night cruises on the Tiber re-starts; it is managed by "Battelli di Roma" in cooperation with the Ambient councillorship of Rome. It is possible to sail on the boat Livia Drusilla on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday starting at 21.30, 22.30 and 23.30. The boat will start from the Tiber Island (Trastevere side), sailing up to Ponte Cavour and back to the Island after about 40 minutes. THE CINEMA ISLAND  (June 20th 2007)
From June 21st to September 2nd 2007 the XIII edition of the exhibition L'isola del
                      Cinema L'ISOLA DEL CINEMA® will take place, a classic appointment included in the "Estate Romana" events and accommodated, as usual, in the Village built on the Tiber Island banks.
Carrried out by “Amici di Trastevere” and “Dreaming Island”, with the collaboration of the Fatebenefratelli Community, the Jewish Community in Rome, the Community of St.Egidio.
In the small square, rearranged similar to the “Nuovo Cinema Paradiso”, one may chose between the Sala de Curtis, 400 seats, arranged on the Ghetto side, and the CineLab, a laboratory hall with 60 seats arranged on the Ponte Garibaldi background, on the Trastevere side. The first will propose two shows (at 21,15 and 23.00) relevant to the best movies of the last season, but also meetings with personalities of cinema and previews. The CineLab (at 21,30 and 23.00) is a place for author motion pictures.
As the last year a dedicated lift will permit an easy access also to disabled people.
Free entrance; movies on payment: the Sala de Curtis 5€ and the Cinelab 3€.

CARTOON DAY (June 3rd 2007)Cartoon Day
Starting from July 8th 2007 CARTOON DAY comes back: the "Estate Romana" [Roman Summer] will be livened up by the best of the italian comics and cartoon. This second edition will take place in the within the "Estate Romana all’Isola Tiberina" exhibition during the cartoon sundays of "Gente di Cartoonia" [Cartoonia People] in the attractive LungoTevere of the Tiber Island.

Biking and boating along the Tiber:
"Bike&boat" came from collaboration between Battelli di Roma and Bikeaway: it permit to visit Rome in a different way.
The new service that combine bike and boat has been opened on June 2nd 2007, at the pier of Calata Anguillara, in front of the Tiber Island.
Buying a single 15 € ticket it is possible to rent a bike for a full day and load it on a service boat, an then  use the cycle track that run alongside the river up to Ponte Marconi; fron there it is possibie reach  Ostia Antica by boat.

THE CINEMA ISLAND  (June 7th 2006)
From June 7th to September 3rd 2006 the XII edition of the exhibition
L'isola del
                      Cinema L'ISOLA DEL CINEMA® will take place, a classic appointment included in the "Estate Romana" events and accommodated, as usual, in the Village built on the Tiber Island banks.
The "fabulous '60ies" will be the center theme of the exhibition, carrried out with the collaboration of the Fatebenefratelli Community, the Jewish Community in Rome, the Community of St.Egidio and under the patronage of Lazio Region, the town council of Rome and the province of Rome.
Two cinema halls will be active: the arena Maxischermo [Bigscreen], dedicated to Luchino Visconti to celebrate the centennial of his birth (shows at 21,30 and 23), and the CineLab, (show at 22,15), a place for author motion pictures, that will accomodate the first edition of the Shorts Festival ''L'Isola del Corto''.
This year the exhibition opening has been anticipated at 18.00; a dedicated lift will permit an easy access also to disabled people.
Free entrance; movies on payment: the Sala Visconti 5€ and the Cinelab 3€  (respectively 4€ e 2 € the reduction tickets).

CONCERT (May 7th 2006)
Within the fourth edition of the sacred and classic music exhibition “40 Concerts in the God's Day”, on May 7th 2006, in the Basilica of St. Bartholomew at the Tiber Island, it will take place the concert for cello and piano with Luca Pincini and Gilda Buttà; there will be executed for the very first time four sacred pieces relevant the three major monotheistic religions (Christianity, Hebraic, Islam) and Buddhism composed by Gianni Ferrio, Marcello Panni, Antonio Di Pofi, Francesco Lanzillotta. 
The musical event, that started on November 13th 2005, has been organized by the "Servizio Diocesano per la Pastorale Giovanile" of the Vicariato of Rome with the support of the Ministry for the Cultural Activities and the Lazio Region, and performed in some of the most important Basilicas in the historic centre of Rome and in artistic and particularly evocative cultural places.
The musical event will end on June 18th 2006 in the Basilica of St. John in Laterano.

CEREMONY (February 26th 2005)
On March 2nd 2005 at 11 a.m., with a simple public ceremony in the Sala Assunta of the Fatebenefratelli hospital at the Tiber Island, it will be assigned a memory medal to Dr. Borromeo, a courageous chief physician of the hospital, that in the dark days during the years '43-'44 succeeded to save the lives of many Jews inventing an imaginary disease, the "K. disease".

PHOTO EXHIBITION (February 26th 2005)
On February 22nd 2005 it has been inaugurated the exhibition "L'Isola degli Ospedali. Medicina e solidarietà nel cuore di Roma" [The Island of the hospitals. Medicine and solidarity in the hearth of Rome], organized by the Hospitals Fatebenefratelli and Israelitish. Through photographs and documents, the exhibition relates the tradition of medical assistance and health that characterize the Tiber Island for many centuries: a series of posters connects, through the square, the Israelitish and Fatebenefratelli hospitals, while in the open spaces inside the two structures are projected documents relevant to the history and the medical tradition of the Island.
Among the pictures exposed, some panels show the present arrangement of the hospitals, explaining how they kept the original tradition and religious vocation adapting themselves, in the same time, to the sanitary changes in order to offer a more and more qualified service.

NAVIGATION ON THE TIBER (July 9th 2003)
On the end of April finally the navigation on the Tiber river took place; at present it is possible to sail between Calata degli Anguillara and Ponte Duca d'Aosta.The mooring Calata Anguillara is on the right bank just upstream the Tiber Island.
In short should be possible to sail also in the river part downstream the island, starting from Ripa Grande. Due to the thresholds located on the two branches at the island sides it will be impossible to sail in the island area.Calata

Summer timetable for the normal boat service on the Tiber, from June 1st: each hour from h. 7.30 to19.45. No service between 14.00 and 16.00.
Terminus: Bridge Duca D'Aosta and Calata degli Anguillara.
Stops: br. Risorgimento, br. Cavour, br. S.Angelo, br. Sisto.
Fares: single way: 1 €; daily 2.30 €; monthly 30.00 €. Tickets on board.
